WHAT JOURNAL ENTRIES SHOULD I HAVE?

Journal entries that evidence:

 Engagement with the weekly tasks.

  • Evidence of reading and critical analysis of current ideas, debates and issues using evidence-informed literature and viewpoints relevant to the student’s research question(s) and professional development
  • Maintenance of a reflective journal to document learning and the development of new perspectives and skills in the subject area.
  • Reflections on the enquiry process, development of knowledge of both the subject content and the enquiry process and the connection to the student’s professional development
  • The challenging of personal assumptions related to learning and teaching within the subject area

 

A Literature review that evidences:

 

  • Identification of an issue which has a clear connection to practice and professional development within the subject area;
  • The exploration and use of relevant literature, policy documents and texts to support the area for investigation, contextualising the key issues around the topic and authors of importance;
  • The standard of written English and use of appropriate academic conventions, including referencing.

 

A Critical Evaluation of Practitioner Enquiry (c. 1500 words) that evidences:

 

  • Critical evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of practitioner enquiry in supporting teachers’ professional development in general, and your own professional development in particular
  • The exploration and use of relevant literature, policy documents and texts to support the area for investigation the ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different data gathering techniques used in practitioner research
  • Demonstrate an awareness of ethical and professional issues in the design of a small-scale enquiry as well as reflecting on the value of enquiry as a means for supporting professional development.
  • The standard of written English and use of appropriate academic conventions, including referencing.

 

An Overview (c.2000 words) of your Poster Presentation undertaken in Assessment Mode 2, which evidences:

 

  • The exploration and use of relevant literature, policy documents and texts to support the area for investigation the ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different data gathering techniques used in practitioner research
  • An awareness of ethical and professional issues in the design of a small-scale enquiry as well as reflecting on the value of enquiry as a means for supporting professional development.
  • Exploration of a range of dissemination strategies to consider appropriate approaches for sharing the findings of the enquiry with a wider educational audience.

The appropriate standard of written English and use of appropriate academic conventions, including referencing
